Beyond Bodies — Conversations on Objectification of Women (May 28, 2023)

The discussion explored how women's bodies are policed from birth — what to wear, how to look, what to eat, who to marry, how much pain to bear — all determined by patriarchal society for its own continued power and control.

The session was a treasure trove of knowledge and experience — discussing the political games played from home to healthcare, sports to politics, education to employment — that deny women access to their rights.

Women and Workplace (July 1, 2023)

India got its first school for girls in 1848. 35 years later, India got its first women graduates in 1883. Yet in 2023, the urban women employability rate stands at 21% — lower than the 23% seen in 1990. The session on 'Women and Workplace — Challenges and Way Forward' was held at Diet-In, Vadapalani.

Participants from diverse backgrounds, age groups, jobs and geographies enriched the conversation with multiple perspectives on glass ceilings, structural barriers, unpaid care work, the PoSH Act 2013, and political will for change.

Reclaiming Agency — Women and Marriage

A straight-from-the-heart discussion on how the institution of marriage, in the Indian context, traumatizes men and women from childhood. Regressive practices, women as carriers of family/caste pride, financial and emotional burdens, and marriage-induced violence were elaborately discussed.
